*NEXT COURSE* TBA – Please contact Jo to express interest
Our Lady of Dolours Church – Community Centre

Zoom Warrior 2

“I liked how you did the grounding exercise at the beginning of the class to help me focus on yoga and not to think about what happened during the day. I felt stronger after completing the 6 weeks. It was really enjoyable! I am so glad I attended. You are a great teacher and I will be continuing with the Wednesday night classes. I’m so looking forward to it!”
Jan, Albany Creek, Qld (Beginner Course Participant, April/May 2020)

This 6 Week Beginner Yoga Course will introduce you to the key elements of a yoga practice, including…

Asana (poses)

  • Discover asana families and their respective benefits, as you learn to perform commonly taught poses safely for your body.
  • Understand how yoga props can be used support you, and become confident in using them. You won’t need to buy any fancy props (eg blocks, straps) – I will provide some for you to use during the course, and you can improvise with items from home… more information will be provided upon registration.)
  • Learn Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations).

Pranayama (breath control/exercise)

  • Discover how different pranayama techniques can assist you when practising yoga on the mat, as well as in everyday life.

Meditation/Relaxation

  • Be introduced to simple and effective meditation techniques, including the incredible practice of Yoga Nidra (sometimes called Yogic Sleep).

There will be a little yoga history, some Sanskrit (the language of yoga) and, of course, basic yoga philosophy woven through along the way.

The final class in the course will be taught as a full yoga flow, preparing you to take the next step in your yoga journey… joining a Flow class! To make that transition a little sweeter,  included in this course is a complimentary pass to a Wednesday night Flow class.

As valuable bonus, you’ll receive access to a recording of each class in the 6 week course, in case you are unable to attend one of the classes face-to-face, or would like to practise between classes. These recordings will remain accessible to you until 2 weeks after the course finish date.

This course is suitable for absolute beginners or those wishing to revise the basics and become more confident in their practice.

The course is $120 per person* and limited to maximum 8 participants, to ensure personal attention (*terms and conditions apply and a minimum number of participants is required for the course to run). Bookings essential, and payment in full is required to confirm your place on the course.

RESTORATIVE YOGA
Fortnightly on Saturdays (from 4 February 2022)
3.45pm to 5.00pm, at YogaSol, Ferny Hills
Bookings required

Restorative Yoga has become increasingly well-known and sought after.  It is a way to relax and restore body and mind as you adopt different yoga postures fully supported with blocks, blankets, straps and bolsters (not necessarily all at once!). Generally, poses are sustained for 5 to 15 minutes and the effect is that you are able to let go of stored emotions and mental and physical tension – as your body relaxes, so does your mind.

Having practised yoga before is not a prerequisite.
Variations are offered to accommodate different bodies and/or health considerations.

Classes incorporate asana (postures), pranayama (breath exercises) and, of course, relaxation. You’ll need to supply your own mat and bring a blanket/towel to use for support as required. Studio bolsters and blocks may be borrowed – please bring an extra towel or blanket to cover a bolster.
