Classes at Our Lady of Dolours Church, Mitchelton

Group classes in a modern, studio-style space with carpet, air conditioning/heating and bathroom/changing facilities. Classes incorporate asana (postures), pranayama (breath exercise) and relaxation/meditation. Flow and Relaxed Flow classes offered weekly, as detailed below.

FLOW
Wednesdays 7pm – 8.15pm

Taught in the Vinyasa, or flow-style, this class is for those seeking a dynamic class where asana (postures) and breath are practised in flowing sequences. Variations are offered so you can practise at the intensity that’s right for you, in the moment.

This class is suitable for those who’ve already experienced some yoga and have knowledge of basic and commonly taught asana, through intermediate practitioners wanting to deepen their practice.

Please note: This class is not suitable for absolute beginners, however the Relaxed Flow class will be perfect!


RELAXED FLOW
Thursdays 7pm – 8.15pm
(excluding first Thursday of each month
– Yoga Nidra is on that night)

Also taught flow-style, linking asana (postures) and breath in shorter flowing sequences, this class is suitable for absolute beginners and anyone wanting a gentler class at a slightly more relaxed pace (including those newer to physical activity and/or with mobility considerations). Plenty of variations are offered to accommodate different bodies and/or health considerations.

Of course, a slightly slower practice can also be great for more experienced yogis, offering an opportunity to focus more on your breath, or to go a little deeper and refine your alignment, so you’re welcome at this class too!

No need to book for Flow or Slow Flow classes – please arrive 10-15 minutes early if it’s your first time.

Mats available for use if you don’t have your own. Props provided.

RESTORATIVE YOGA

Restorative Yoga is becoming increasingly well-known and sought after.  It is a way to relax and restore body and mind as you adopt different yoga postures fully supported with blocks, blankets, straps and bolsters (not necessarily all at once!). Generally, poses are sustained for 5 to 15 minutes and the effect is that you are able to let go of stored emotions and mental and physical tension – as your body relaxes, so does your mind.

Although having practised yoga before is not a prerequisite, it may be helpful to have been to at least a couple of yoga classes beforehand to have some familiarity with the base poses. Variations are offered to accommodate different bodies and/or health considerations.

Classes incorporate asana (postures), pranayama (breath exercises) and, of course, relaxation.
